What to see
Former Synagogue (Bartók Concert Hall) Built between 1880 and 1881, the stunning, large temple was designed by Ludwig Schöne with Oriental and Romantic elements. It served as the center of religious life until the community was destroyed in 1944. Since 1975, it has been transformed into a concert hall, preserving the structure, located near the city center.
Ghetto Location The ghetto centred around Thököly and Rákóczi Ferenc II Streets. This area included the main synagogues and over 700 apartments, confining the Jewish population before deportation.
